Welcome!

This part of the Knight News Challenge web site offers you a chance to comment on entries that have already been submitted to the contest – and find out if your thoughts can change the future of news. But before you do, there are some important rules to go over.

The people whose entries you see here want your help improving these ideas. By hearing your free advice, and using the best of it, they hope to increase their odds of winning. You might be able to suggest ways to fix a flaw in the application. You might have an application that the author hadn't thought about. You might think of ways to make a good idea or project better.

To apply, comment, and rate entries, you must first register by clicking here. If you comment, you agree to do so with the full understanding that you are voluntarily giving your advice to help the entrant have a better chance of winning. You will not receive any compensation for doing this, nor do you create any intellectual property interest in the entrant's application. Awards will only be made to the applicant, even if the applicant revises the original entry to incorporate ideas from those who have commented.

The applicants who are choosing to offer up their entries for comment agree that others may read their applications and develop applications of their own to enter based on the information contained in this part of the web site.

Below you can see entries sorted by the most recently received, the most viewed and the highest rated. The same application for a short time could be sorted into all three categories. Click on the application title to add comments.

If you have a great idea, but you don’t feel ready to enter the contest you can take advantage of the News Challenge Garage, the place to tinker with your great idea for the News Challenge before you apply here.

On the News Challenge Garage you can draft answers to the application questions; mentors, past winners, and other Garage members will comment and help you make them stronger before you submit them here.

Remember, everything is open and public on both this Knight News Challenge contest site and on our mentor site, so we can all help in the development of your ideas.
